They don't care how they appear to "us."
They really don't. Just as, if I'm honest, I don't really care how I appear to them.
What they care about is how they look to one another and the rest of the anointed.
What they're doing is performing cult rituals for the National Media. It's like a performance of a myth, the opacity of which to the outsider camouflages the clarity of thre believers.
They only care about "us" to the extent that they are "pwning," or "triggering" us.
The only thing now necessary is to brand CPAC a dome3stic terrorist organization.

A correspondent wrote that there was a tribe in New Guinea which had no war-chiefs, didn't wage "wars," and didn't understand the concept.

I wrote: "Warfare" as we know it is a development associated with 'civilization," and would be incomprehensible to pre-civilized/tribal people.

There are no pre-citified/-civilized peoples ("TRIBES") with numbers of people enough to waste 20% of them in "warfare."

Have you read "Ishmael," by Dan Quinn? He postulates a theory in which tribes--pre-citified--expressed their hostilities with one another on an individual basis, opportunistically, such that should, say an Arapaho hunter/warrior cross the path of a Sioux hunter/warrior, only one of them would return to his tribe, with the weapons and spoils of the other, now dead.

War, as WE now and use the term means turning the whole efforts of that society into utterly defeating an enemy and seizing their territory and resources.

As far as we know, that rarely happened in tribal societies.

NO, THEY'RE NOT "THE SAME."

 

Some folks make a living decrying our two Parties' similarities, claiming there is "no difference" between them. This untrue. There are significant similarities but there are also significant differences.

The similarities between the Parties are evident in their approaches to 'international' affairs, and growing, supporting and protecting the US Empire, as Prez. Joe's attack yestiddy in Syria demonstrates. And before him, Obama carried on the imperial policies of the Bushevik era.

Neither Party scruples much about the application of deadly power to advance or consolidate the Empire's global interests. Their policies transcend "party" considerations, and are remarkably similar across regimes, R or D.

There are, however, also marked differences between them, which emerge spectacularly in the domestic sphere, where the Ds support a kind of somewhat generous, expansive "social democratic" model--at least to SOME degree--which dispenses the Empire's wealth among its citizens, whereas the Rs' corporate allegiances turn the flow into capital, and rely on "trickle-down" to keep the proles content.

When folks say the Bible prohibits lying, they are mistaken.

In the translations of the "Bible" I've read, the sin is not in "lying," generally.

It is the specific misfeasance of "bearing false witness against thy nerighbor."

Everybody speaks untruths, sometime to cover our asses in various ways.

It is different to lie by denying than to lie by naming an innocent as the culprit.

False witness intentionally damages someone else.

We're learning how society which tolerates "false witness" soon has no other kind.
